05:00 — Meet at Assi Ghat / Hotel Pickup

You meet your guide at Assi Ghat while the sky is still cool and the city is waking up. There’s a short greeting, a quick rundown of etiquette (modest dress, no loud behavior at ghats), and bottled water is handed out. The guide briefly explains the route and the significance of the ghats you will visit, so you already feel rooted in the story of Kashi before you step onto the stone steps.

05:10 – 05:40 — Assi Ghat: Sunrise, Yoga, and the First Prayers

As you walk along the riverfront, the first pale light paints the Ganges silver. Locals practice yoga, brass lamps bob on the water, and small puja (prayer) setups appear on the steps. Your guide points out subtle ritual gestures — how flowers are offered, why people circle their hands over the flame — and explains the deeper meaning of these morning practices. The air is scented with incense and sweetened milk sweets from nearby stalls; it’s peaceful and intimate.
