Highlights
On arrival in Delhi, you will be welcomed and transferred to your hotel. Known as the “City of Cities,” Delhi has been a center of power for centuries, blending the heritage of ancient kingdoms, Mughal grandeur, and modern India. The day begins with a tour of Old Delhi, visiting Raj Ghat, the memorial of Mahatma Gandhi, driving past the Red Fort, and exploring Jama Masjid, the largest mosque in India. A rickshaw ride through the bustling lanes of Chandni Chowk offers a glimpse into its vibrant markets and street food culture. In the afternoon, visit the towering Qutub Minar, drive past the President’s House and other government buildings, and end the day at the Laxminarayan Temple, dedicated to Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Narayana.
Today, you will travel by road from Delhi to Mandawa, located in the Shekhawati region, founded by the Shekhawat Rajputs and named after Rao Shekha. This region is renowned for its rich heritage, boasting over fifty forts and palaces, many of which have been transformed into heritage hotels. Shekhawati’s villages are famous for their grand havelis, adorned with the highest concentration of frescoes in the world.
In the 19th century, the Marwari community, an influential business group from this area, migrated to larger cities in search of opportunities, where they achieved great success. To display their prosperity, they returned to their hometowns and built lavish havelis, hiring skilled artists to decorate them with intricate frescoes.
The rest of the day is at leisure to explore the surroundings at your own pace, with transport available within city limits. Overnight stay will be in Mandawa or one of the villages in the Shekhawati region.
Please note that after the finalization of the tour/service cost, if there are any hikes in entrance fees of monuments/museums, taxes, fuel cost or guide charges by the Govt of India and Rajasthan state government the same would be charged as extra.
